Tuition and Camp Calendar

Brown Ledge has one all inclusive rate. With the exception of spending money at the camp store, there are no extra charges. To be specific: there is no extra charge for any phase of the riding program; no charge for any overnight trips; no charge for waterskiing; all laundry is paid for by the camp; and there is no fee for transportation to and from doctors' and dentists' offices, as well as the bus station and Burlington Airport. We venture to suggest sixty dollars per month for spending money, but leave the matter to parents' discretion.

Tuition for 2010 is $6800 for the full 8 week season, or $4750 for either of our two 4 week sessions. To enroll, we request a $500 deposit which is subtracted from the tuition shown above.

Tuition Discounts

Those who enroll on or before October 31, 2008 will be given an early enrollment discount of $150, regardless of session. Those who enroll early and pay the total tuition due will be given an early enrollment discount of $350 for the 8 week session or $250 for either 4 week session. In addition, when 2 or more sisters enroll, 8 week sisters will receive an additional $300 discount, and 4 week sisters an additional $100 discount, regardless of time of enrollment.

The 2010 Camp Calendar is as follows:

  • Full Season (8 weeks): June 24th to August 18th
  • First Half Session (4 weeks): June 24th to July 21st
  • Second Half Session (4 weeks) : July 22nd to August 18th

Clothing

general parent info

Brown Ledge has no uniform. Campers generally wear typical summer clothing of their choice. To help with packing, campers are sent a list of suggested items prior to camp. For those who ride, appropriate riding pants, boots and a safety helmet are required. Drill team members are loaned drill coats and stock ties for their performances.

Duties

Campers make their own beds and keep their cabins clean. The incentive for good work is the daily inspection. Ratings are kept, and awards given each week for the neatest cabin. Campers take turns waiting on tables. All kitchen work is done by our employed kitchen staff.

Food

Meals at Brown Ledge are served family style, in generous portions. Experienced food service personnel plan all menus with an eye toward balanced meals and appetizing fare, and the diverse dietary preferences of our campers and staff.. Fresh fruits, vegetables and quality ingredients are utilized in meal preparation.

Health Care

Our on staff nurses are in charge of the health center. They offer "office hours" three times a day, but are available should they be needed at any time. Our nurses are in frequent contact with physician. We are fortunate to be only a fifteen minute drive from the University of Vermont Medical School and its affiliated hospital which houses a Level 1 trauma center. Because of this, physicians of all specialties are available.

Parents' Visits

Brown Ledge has no specific parent visiting days. Beginning with the tenth of camp, parents may visit when they wish. This system allows parents to see camp on a "normal" day.
